# Product Architect ## About You You’re passionate about understanding the needs of users/customers, the capabilities of the technology, and finding the convergence of those two things to create a slick, powerful, easy-to-use product. You’ve got a strong engineering background, and perhaps some product management background as well. You’re a technical writer, just as comfortable blogging about abstract philosophical topics which underpin a technology as you are writing technical reference documentation for a given developer tool. You care about systematic correctness and the “right” way to do things, and resolving that against moving fast to solve immediate customer pain points. You care about aesthetics in RESTful APIs, in unix command-line tools, and in web UIs: usability and user experience are universal concerns. You think a lot product strategy and cohesion – the big picture of how all the parts fit together. ## The Position If most or all of the above applies to you, you should come join the legendary Heroku product and engineering team as a product architect (half software architect, half product manager). You’ll be working with us to put together technical designs on everything from our command-line tools, to our APIs, to the user-facing portions of infrastructure features (like SSL and DNS). We’re on the cusp of transforming how applications are built and deployed on the web: you can be a part of it. ## Applying If interested, please email us about yourself, and include: * A description of your approach to problem-solving in any of the areas described in this post * Samples of your technical writing (such as a blog post, readme, or reference docs) Optionally, you may also include: * Samples of technical designs you’ve done in the past (such as an API reference or a UI mockup) * Your github account * Your CV/resume You must be willing to relocate to San Francisco. H1B visa sponsorship for non-US citizens is possible if you have a degree. (We will consider remote applicants, but only if you’re REALLY awesome, and willing to make your working schedule overlap with the entire afternoon in PST. Please note in your email if you are remote and can’t move to SF.)
